FFJ Portfolio - February 2022 Report

This is my FFJ Portfolio - February 2022 Report. Previous monthly reports are accessible in the Archives and the month-end portfolio holdings are accessible here.

On February 27th, I departed for a ski trip to various resorts in British Columbia. I did not return home until March 14th thus the reason for the delay in publishing this report.

Purchases

During February, I made the following trades:

  • S&P Global (SPGI) - 100 shares bringing my total exposure to 200 shares in a 'Core' account and 200 shares in a 'Side' account.
  • Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) - initiated a 200 share position in a 'Side' account. I also hold 100 shares in a 'Core' account plus shares in an account for which I do not disclose details;
  • Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) - acquired 100 additional shares in a 'Core' account bringing my exposure to 300 shares plus shares in accounts for which I do not disclose details;
  • Broadridge Solutions (BR) - initiated a 250 share position in a 'Core' account. I also hold 535 shares in a 'Side' account and shares in accounts for which I do not disclose details;
  • Copart (CPRT) - acquired an additional 50 shares in a 'Core' account thus bringing my exposure to 250 shares plus shares in accounts for which I do not disclose details; and
  • Danaher (DHR) - acquired an additional 50 shares in a 'Core' account thus bringing my exposure to 210 shares.

I also helped a young investor acquire additional shares in Brookfield Asset Management (BAM-a.TO).

Rather than wait until the end of March, I take this opportunity to disclose the purchases made in the first half of March while on vacation.

  • Blackstone (BX) - acquired 100 additional shares in a 'Core' account bringing my exposure to 1008 shares;
  • Nike (NKE) - acquired 100 additional shares in a 'Core' account bringing my exposure to 616 shares;
  • McDonald's (MCD) - acquired 100 additional shares in a 'Side' account bringing my exposure to 135 shares plus shares in an account for which I do not disclose details;
  • Genuine Parts (GPC) - acquired 6 additional shares in a 'Core' account bringing my exposure to 343 shares (I did not have much surplus cash in the account); and
  • S&P Global (SPGI) - acquired 50 shares in a 'Core' account bringing my total exposure to 250 shares in a 'Core' account and 200 shares in a 'Side' account.

I also helped a young investor initiate a position in Blackstone (BX) and another young investor acquire additional shares in The Royal Bank of Canada (RY.TO).

The reinstatement of the automatic reinvestment of dividend income generated from holdings within the FFJ Portfolio is contributing to the purchase of additional shares in several companies.

Sales

I rarely sell other than for tax planning purposes. Following my analysis of 3M (MMM), however, I decided to exit this position and disclosed the same in my 3M: This Dividend King Is A Train Wreck post.

Holdings

On January 7, 2022, I ranked my top 30 holdings in my Investment Holdings Review. The rankings have inevitably changed given recent trades and the fluctuation in stock prices.

January 2022

Core Accounts: ~$773,000 CDN and ~$1,858,000 USD

Side Accounts: ~$666,000 CDN and ~$1,475,000 USD

Total: ~$1,439,000 CDN and ~$3,333,000 USD

February 2022

Core Accounts: ~$778,000 CDN and ~$2,014,000 USD

Side Accounts: ~$672,000 CDN and ~$1,465,000 USD

Total: ~$1,450,000 CDN and ~$3,479,000 USD

NOTE: The values reflected above exclude investments in several tax-efficient accounts for which I do not disclose details.
