This is my September 2019 FFJ Portfolio update. The portfolio was created in January 2017 for the purpose of demonstrating how investing in high quality companies with competitive advantages and with a record of consistently increasing dividends can assist investors in reaching their long-term financial goals without the need to speculate or to chase dividend yield.

In mid-September I provided this interim report to reflect trades I had made in the first half of the month. Subsequent to publishing that report my attention has been directed toward taking care of an aging parent and aging in-laws. In addition, I participated in the 2019 March for the Fallen for which I provided a link in my interim report.

The only trade I placed in the second half of September was the purchase of additional FedEx Corporation (FDX) shares for one of the 'Side Accounts' within the FFJ Portfolio; I disclosed this purchase in this article.

I have made very few purchases in recent months as I am of the opinion we are witnessing a period of of irrational exuberance. I have a shopping list of great companies in which I want to increase my exposure and/or initiate a position but I just can't bring myself to acquire shares at their current valuation levels.

In preparation for a potential broad market pullback, my better 50% and I have decided to sell one of our investment properties; closing is set for mid-October. A significant percentage of the sale proceeds will be used to acquire shares in high quality companies. While the vast majority of these shares will be held in accounts for which I do not disclose details, I will disclose if/when I do make purchases.
