FFJ Portfolio - July 2021 Report

This is my FFJ Portfolio - August 2021 Report.

In addition to writing posts on this site, my guest post about BCE was published at Dividend Power.

FFJ Portfolio Holdings

Monthly FFJ Portfolio holdings reports from December 2018 to August 2021 are found here.

During the month of August I purchased:

  • Blackstone (BX) - 500 shares in a 'Core' account within the FFJ Portfolio
  • Brookfield Asset Management (BAM-a.TO) - 100 shares each through 2 'Core' accounts within the FFJ Portfolio

My analysis of each company is in articles found within the FFJ Archives.

FFJ Portfolio - August 2021 Income

I track all my dividend income but only disclose details for holdings held in accounts which I include within the FFJ Portfolio.

In my FFJ Portfolio - November 2020 Report I made the following 2021 FFJ Portfolio dividend income projections:

  • Core Accounts – CDN ~$17,600 and USD ~$23,500
  • Side Accounts – CDN ~$24,200 and USD ~$17,000

My YTD dividend income from holdings within the FFJ Portfolio as at the end of August  is:

  • Core Accounts – CDN ~$12,056 and USD ~$15,290
  • Side Accounts – CDN ~$15,177 and USD ~$9,342

Since the dividend income is reasonably predictable, I can estimate the monthly dividend income over the remaining 4 months of the year. I should exceed the 'Core' dividend income targets but will fall just shy of the 'Side' accounts targets. This is of little concern to me since my primary focus is total investment return and not dividend income.

FFJ Portfolio - August 2021 Report - Final Thoughts

I continue to focus on acquiring reasonably valued shares in high quality companies with low dividend yields as evidenced from my purchases in August.

Capital gains are taxed at a more favorable rate than dividend income. By acquiring shares in companies where the majority of the investment return is most likely to be derived from capital gains, I can defer any tax obligation until well into the future.

That's it for now.

Stay safe. Stay focused.

I wish you much success on your journey to financial freedom.
