FFJ Portfolio - October 2022 Report

This brief FFJ Portfolio - October 2022 Report recaps what occurred with our investments in October.

Dividend Income

I made no outright purchases in October but received dividend income from the following companies.

  • Automatic Data Processing (ADP)
  • Broadridge Financial Solutions (BR)
  • Danaher (DHR)
  • Diageo (DEO)
  • Ecolab (ECL)

  • Genuine Parts (GPC)
  • Merck (MRK)
  • Nike (NKE)
  • Stryker (SYK)
  • The Coca-Cola Company (KO)
  • TotalEnergies (TTE)
  • BCE (BCE.to)
  • Canadian Pacific Railway (CP.to)
  • SMART Centres Real Estate Investment Trust (SRU-UN.to)
  • The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.to)
  • The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CM.to)
  • The Toronto Dominion Bank (TD.to)

Divestitures

As part of our RRSP meltdown strategy, I liquidated some shares in the following companies.

  • Becton Dickinson (BDX)
  • Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-b)
  • Carrier Global Corporation (CARR)
  • Copart (CPRT)
  • Ecolab (ECL)
  • Otis Worldwide Corporation (OTIS)
  • Raytheon Technologies (RTX)
  • The Hershey Company (HSY)
  • Tyson Foods (TSN)
  • Intact Financial (IFC.to)
  • The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.to)
  • The Royal Bank of Canada (RY.to)

I still, however, have exposure to these companies with the exception of HSY and TSN.

Dividend Income

The income from the holdings within the FFJ Portfolio is accessible here.

During October, the holdings within the FFJ Portfolio generated the following dividend income:

  • 'Core' accounts: ~$2424 CDN and ~$1,008 USD
  • 'Side' accounts: ~$2,557 CDN and ~$946 USD.

YTD dividend income is:

  • 'Core' accounts: ~$18,260 CDN and ~$28,840 USD
  • 'Side' accounts: ~$20,124 CDN and ~$16,558 USD
  • YTD total: ~$38,384 CDN and ~$45,398 USD

Up until last month, I anticipated the FFJ Portfolio would generate ~$44,500 CDN and ~$58,500 USD of dividend income in 2022. The CDN figure is attainable but I will likely fall short of the USD amount by just under $1000.

Final Thoughts

That's it for now. My wife and I are off to our lawyer's office to sign off on the paperwork related to our real estate purchase.

I wish you much success on your journey to financial freedom.
