November is one of the 4 months of the year in which the FFJ Portfolio generates the least amount of monthly income. In November, CDN $510.44 and USD$778.42 was received.
I augmented this income by writing 4 covered calls on J.M. Smucker (NYSE: SJM) which expire July 20, 2018. After taking into consideration the commission and the USD to CDN FX conversion I netted $1,463.86. This transaction makes up the bulk of the CDN $1579.75 cash in Investment Account #5. Another month has gone by? Time really flies when you’re retired!
In my September 2017 dividend income report I expressed confidence we would generate in excess of CDN$12,200 and in excess of USD$13,000 in dividends for all of 2017. It is that time again for a status report on the FFJ Portfolio.
In September I borrowed $5000.00 from the Canadian portion of Investment Account #1 as we had some major expenses; our daughter’s tuition/books and various annual insurance premiums had to be paid.
In order to reduce the balance owing I decided to suspend the automatic dividend reinvestment feature on the Canadian investments in Account #1. I have recently modified the site’s format. You can now access my FFJ Portfolio and the FFJ Portfolio Dividend Income reports from the menu at the top of this site. I have also modified the reporting format of the monthly dividend income report in an effort to make it easier to read.
During the month of August the dividends I received and automatically reinvested enabled me to acquire the following number of new shares: Royal Bank of Canada (3), Smart REIT (5), AT&T (5), Colgate (1), Hormel (1), and Verizon (5). Given the recent events for which I have provided a high level overview in my Financial Plans Should Account for Potential Major Mental Health Issues post, I have totally neglected this website. Now that matters have improved slightly I will endeavor to resume regular posts. In this regard, I provide an overview of the dividend income generated in the FFJ Portfolio during the month of June 2017.
